Wretch are a doom metal band from Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. Beginning in 2014, they are the primary band of Karl Simon after the break-up of The Gates of Slumber in 2013. The band shuns the swords and sorcery inspiration from the previous band and focuses more on traditional doom metal with lyrics based in drugs, loss and life though they also perform Gates of Slumber songs on occasion along with other occasional covers.

Wretch was formed by Karl Simon in the wake of the break-up of The Gates of Slumber in 2013. Named after the band's final album, Simon recruited Bryce Clarke and Chris Gordon, writing original music and working towards performing live again. Eventually the band would start performing live again in 2014, their first show being at Uninvited Fest in Brooklyn, New York on September 21 that year.[1] They would later play in their hometown of Indianapolis that December with The Skull.

The band would follow up with sporadic shows and festival appearances throughout 2015 before announcing they would be signed to Bad Omen Records.[2] Wretch's self-titled debut would be released on August 26, 2016 with a short tour following. Around the same time the band announced they would be appearing at the 2017 edition of Roadburn Festival with a European tour surrounding it.[3]
