Tunguska Mammoth are a hardcore/sludge band from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Active since 2010, this quartet composes a sound meshing heavy metal, hardcore and stoner metal ala early Relapse doom bands like High on Fire, Mastodon and Baroness. Their music serves as a conceptual piece based on a tale of mammoths taking revenge on society and bringing forth the apocalpyse.

The name of Tunguska itself is a river in the Russian Far East. This toponymic name is also used for a few Siberian rivers. The infamous Tunguska event is named after it, a powerful explosion taking place 1908 near one of the rivers believed to be caused by a meteoroid or comet bursting apart in the air.

Tunguska Mammoth formed in 2010 with the growing desire to play their own music not fit for their cover band, GPS, Maxime Bellerose (ex-Lacrimae Mortalium), Paolo Di Stefano and Mathieu Savage decided to get together with drummer Pierre-Hugues Rondeau (ex-Hope&Horror), to try and fill this void. After a few rehearsals jamming on Melodic Metal riffs, the sound naturally progressed towards what Tunguska Mammoth is now: a combination of the energy of Metal and Hardcore mixed with Stoner groove and progressive rock’s intensity. Their first EP entitled First Chapters, corded in their own rehearsal studio, serves as an introduction for the band upon it's release in 2011. From there the band would tour for the first time alongside The Prophecy in 2011 and alongside Kruger in April of 2012.[1][2] Also of note would be a show sharing the stage with the likes of traditional doom bands Revelation and Blizaro.

Tunguska Mammoth would then release their self-titled album on 1 October 2013 and remain active playing shows and festivals throughout Canada. A second album is in the works with the band using Indiegogo as a means to help fund the project.
