The Doomsday Project is a band formed in 2015. Originating from Stockholm, Sweden, this project was formed by Candlemass' Leif Edling while he had been ill and unable to perform live with his iconic band. Originally a solo project ala his 2008 album eventually members of the Swedish metal scene were recruited to compose a self-titled album.

HistoryEdit

While Leif Edling had taken time away from Candlemass from 2013 onwards due to ongoing health issues he had begun work on another doom metal project, initially recording all of the music himself. Eventually a demo EP was released in March with Edling handling all instruments along with a few guests.

On 19 October 2016 the band announced their debut performance would be at Roadburn Festival in the Netherlands along with establishing a full band lineup.[1]. On 23 December 2016 the band's self-titled studio album was announced for a 31 March 2017 release on Nuclear Blast.[2]. On 29 March 2017 the band's second performance would be a hometown show in Stockholm alongside Manilla Road on 6 May at Kraken Sthlm.[3] A third performance is slated for the Hammer of Doom Festival on 17 November 2017.
