Quest for Fire were a four-piece heavy psych band from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. They were formed in 2007 and released two studio albums before disbanding in early 2013.
History[]
Quest for Fire, were formed in 2007 by former The Deadly Snakes members, Chad Ross (guitar and Vocals) and Andrew Moszynski (guitar), as well as Mike Maxymuik (drums) and Josh Bauman (bass).[1] This line-up endured for the entire lifespan of the band. They played their first show, roughly a year after forming, at 'The Boat' in their home town of Toronto.[1]
In 2008, they released their first album, Quest for Fire, through Canada based The Storyboard Label. The album was picked up by Tee Pee Records and given a wider release on 9 July 2009.[1] They followed up with a second album, Lights From Paradise on 31 August 2010, also released by Tee Pee Records. Quest for Fire previewed one of the tracks from their second album, 'In The Place of a Storm', on a split with Nebula in March 2010.
In 2011, Quest for Fire were invited to play the Up in Smoke Volume II tour alongside Mirror Queen, Naam and headliners, The Atomic Bitchwax.[2] On 2 January 2013, Quest for Fire announced their breakup in their Facebook page, stating the following:
“ | after 6 amazing years we have officially decided to call it quits. sorry to all the kind folks out there that were expecting a new record in 2013.... but we promise you, a few new bands are already in the works. good things on the horizon! lots of great tours, good friends (old and new), good jams, heavy parties, and long roads, will be filed away, forever foggy and shining in our collective memories.
thanks for the love! QFF. |

Their final show took place at The Horseshoe Tavern, in their hometown of Toronto on 15 February 2013.[4]
Shortly after their breakup, Ross and Moszynski formed the band Comet Control. Comet Control's debut album featured several tracks which were previously performed by Quest for Fire.[5]
