(1998 (Southern Lord Edition))
Dommedagsnatt is the only studio release by the short lived death/doom band Thorr's Hammer, released initially in 1996 and later 1998. It is notable as the first project involving the duo of Stephen O'Malley and Greg Anderson along with the reissue being the very first release on Southern Lord Records.
As Thorr's Hammer formed throughout 1995 the band managed to record on two nights at Nifelheim in June that year along with playing two gigs in Washington before disbanding when Gammelsæter moved back to Norway. The initial release of Dommedagsnatt was a cassette release on Moribund Records in 1996 well after the group dissolved.
Remastering of the EP (and bonus track) was done by Count Schneeberger in March 1998. In 1998, Southern Lord Records would reissue Dommedagsnatt on CD in what was their very first release on the label with a bonus live track "Mellom Galgene". A second edition featuring an alternate album cover was also issued the same year.
In 2004 another reissue of the EP was released on 20 April via Southern Lord. This reissue contained both the live track and a video (in MOV format) of the band's first live performance (of 2), recorded on June 24th 1995 (though the back cover says 23rd) at New World, Ballard, Seattle, WA. Dommedagsnatt also saw a vinyl release for the first time on picture disc, limited to 1000 copies.
In 2009 another vinyl reissue in support of their reunion performance at Supersonic Festival would be conceived on clear (500 copies) and black vinyl (3000 copies).
All of the lyrics are in Norwegian with no translation along with Nordic runes depicted on the reissue album cover.
