Albatross Overdrive are a heavy rock band formed in early 2005 with a DIY philosophy, working hard yet naturally to write songs to accompany influences ranging from bands like UFO, Mountain, Black Sabbath, and Iron Maiden, to Clutch, QOTSA and Soundgarden.

HistoryEdit

Albatross Overdrive formed in 2005 with the nucleus made up of Rodney Peralta on drums and Davey Obade on bass and Andrew Luddy on guitar and Art Campos on vocals both rounding out the lineup. Albatross Overdrive hit the local bar and club scene to test their live performance. Local shows around Orange County included Fitzgerald’s, Blue Café, and playing with local bands such as Sasquatch, Anglo Jackson, Leatherwolf, Amplifiers, and Sky Wreck. Later dates included playing House Of Blues, The Key Club, The Air Conditioned Lounge and The Federal Underground in which they were an opener for bands such as Steel Panther aka Metal Skool, Metalachi, Pennywise, Radio Moscow and Mike Watt to name a few.

During the live performances and between studio practices, Albatross Overdrive recorded a 5 song demo at GriffDog records in Huntington Beach with engineer Derek Phillips, loosely titled, "Songs for the Road." After settling into their own in late 2009, the sound of Albatross Overdrive had reached a new level. Live shows seemed to prove what they were capable of and what they had to offer. Eventually the band would compose and release a self-titled album in 2010. Evolving their sound and also their lineup, new members would join the fold in bassist Mark Abshire whose past projects include Fu Manchu and Nebula, guitarist Derek Phillips who has been the band’s recording engineer since 2008 and manager Vanessa K. of Kaylor Industries.

Staying with the DIY style the band recorded and released their second record Keep It Running in 2016 and did a small California tour with Ruben Romano's FREEKS. AOD also released their first music video for the single Earth Mother featuring the exciting aspects of their live performances.
