Agents of Oblivion were a short-lived band out of Louisiana, notable for being a primary musical project of one Dax Riggs after the dissolution of Acid Bath but before forming Deadboy and the Elephantmen. Their sound encapsulated the more southern/blues/gothic side of Acid Bath and expanded on it and thus could be perceived as a precursor to Riggs' solo works.

HistoryEdit

Agents of Oblivion formed in 1999 out of Houma, Louisiana. Taking the morbid, Southern Gothic-influenced blues rock elements Acid Bath experimented with before its disintegration, and progresses on it further adding in elements of stoner rock, goth rock, post-punk, and doom metal. Guitarist Sanchez and vocalist Riggs recruited Alex Bergeron (bass), Chuck Pitre (keyboards, no relation to Audie), and Jeff McCarty (drums) to complete the line up. The band had played occasional shows in their short tenure.

Eventually the band released a self-titled album in 2000 via Rotten Records before breaking up shortly after. Riggs went on to form Deadboy and the Elephantmen with Chuck Pitre. Alex Bergeron, formerly of local Houma band SlowTheKnife, joined later and continued on with Rigg's post-Deadboy solo work.
